For comics and speakers of all levels.

Judy brings her star making Hollywood stand-up workshop to Tacoma for two days only.  Attendees will learn how turn their problems into punch lines and get laughs.

No previous experience is necessary for the workshop, which can benefit speakers, comics, writers and performers of all levels. Participants will learn how to spin their humiliations into comedy gold.

Day One: Comedy Workshop

Come join the author of The Comedy Bible as she guides you to create comedy material in a fun, supportive environment. Whether you are working the clubs or a beginner, a comic or a speaker, Judy has developed comedy exercises to unleash your creativity, discover your persona, and turn your problems into punch lines.

What am I going to learn?

• Openings: how to make them love you in 17 seconds
• Three steps to writing authentic material based on your persona
• How to make any subject funny (even the most boring)
• How to create comedy material from your life experiences
• Techniques to conquer the fear of performing
• How to turn the crazy characters in your family into material
• How to connect with any audience

Each participant will end the day with performing new comedy material. This workshop is great for pros and beginners alike.

If you are sick of bringer shows, Judy will show how to add a message to your act and score lucrative corporate comedy gigs. In this full day work based on Judy’s new book, The Message of You, Judy will show you how to turn your life story into a money-making speaking career.

Who is Judy Carter?

Judy has performed comedy on over 100 TV shows. She’s the author of The Comedy Bible (Simon & Schuster) as well as, Standup Comedy: The Book (Dell Books) which was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Judy’s new book, The Message of You: Turn Your Life Story into a Money-Making Speaking Career (St. Martin’s Press, Feb 2013), teaches readers how to use life stories to inspire others and launch a speaking career. Judy coaches speakers on finding their message and making it funny. Her private clients range from reality stars and pro wrestlers to well-known actors, comics, speakers and one US Senator.
